Please be sure to confirm your match venue. Several schools have changed their game sites and others have not even decided where they are playing yet. Medgar Evers is splitting their matches between the Aviator Soccer Complex and Old Boys and Girls High School on Rutland and Troy in Brooklyn. St.Joseph’s in Suffolk has scheduled a few of their matches in October at the Centereach Soccer Park on Horse Block Road.
The ECAC website is NOT very clear to everyone when it comes to WHERE the teams are playing.
Be sure to read your GAME NOTICE completely and look for alternate game sites or COMMENTS concerning the venue. Calling the school to confirm the site is also a GOOD IDEA!!
Queensboro Community College has canceled their 2009 men’s soccer season. We do not have any further details.
The following modifications to the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Rules are to be implemented for NJCAA (junior colleges) men’s and women’s soccer games for the 2009 season.
Substitutions:
1. Unlimited substitutions (NJCAA exception to the NCAA rule)
2. A team may sub on their own throw-ins, their own corner kicks, and any goal kick.
3. If the proper team does sub, and the other team has a sub waiting at half-field, they may also sub at that time.
4. Subs should always be waiting a half-field to enter the game, not in front of their team bench.
5. When a player receives a yellow card, a substitute must report for this player, until the next legal substitution period. This includes the goalkeeper.
Timing Procedures:
1. The clock does not stop during substitutions (Exception to the NCAA rule).
2. The clock only stops on goals, injuries where the referee indicates stoppage of play, and when the referee is issuing caution and ejection cards (referee indicates stoppage of play).
3. At the end of the game, the clock operator is to call out the last ten seconds, and sound the horn, indicating the end of the match.
Overtime:
1. two-ten minute sudden-death periods.
We received this email from Joe Bednarsh, Athletic Director at Yeshiva University:
Please note:
The Yeshiva University women’s athletic teams have received a waiver to the NCAA uniform rule that allows them to wear various types of clothing in deference to the modesty issues of Orthodox Judaism. A copy of that waiver is attached (pdf). Please share this information with all applicable personnel and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Many thanks
Joe
The following is an excerpt from the NCAA’s waiver letter:
This letter is in response to your recent request for a waiver to the NCAA’s uniform policies for religious reasons. The NCAA has granted a waiver allowing all the women’s teams at Yeshiva University to substitute skirts, long-sleeve undershirts, tights, and head coverings for portions of the competition uniforms. As you noted in your letter, all of the listed items must be made of the same uniform material, be identical in color, and in all other ways comply with the NCAA rules and regulations regarding uniforms.
Yeshiva University is responsible for notifying opposing teams of the waiver. Additionally, all coaches should keep a copy of the waiver on hand and the waiver should be presented to game officials and coordinators before contests as appropriate.
Again, this waiver includes all women’s teams, so individual student-athletes will not need a separate waiver.
Please respect this waiver accordingly.
Congratulations to our newest NISOA National Assessor, Klaus Mueller. Klaus joins Jack D’Aquila and Reinaldo Palencia as our chapter National Assessors.
