A new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ECAC and the Eastern ISOA (comprised of chapters within ECAC’s area of assigning responsibility) is in its final draft stage. As ECAC’s assigning responsibilities in our chapter’s geographical area have diminished significantly since the last Agreement in 2005, our chapter did not actively participate in the negotiations. The new agreement runs through the 2015 season. The agreement features positive changes in the referee fees as well as a substantial change in the method of calculation for the officials’ registration fee payable to ECAC. NY Metro ISOA’s Second Vice President, Randy Vogt was recently recognized for working his 8,000th game.
Partly because of verbal abuse from spectators, some referees never officiate 10 games. Many refs do not make it to 100 games and very few ever officiate 1,000 games. Yet, referee Randy Vogt has not only survived but has thrived on the soccer fields.

Long time NY Metro ISOA member, Russell Huber will be inducted into the Adelphi University Athletic Hall of Fame at its 41st annual Hall of Fame Ceremony on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Ruth S. Harley University Center in the Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom.

Huber was a multi-sport talent at Adelphi, participating in baseball, men’s soccer and squash. He found his most prominent success on the squash court, twice representing Adelphi at the NCAA tournament. He was also a four-year member of the baseball team, seeing action behind the plate and led the nation in saves as a goalkeeper on the soccer pitch his sophomore season.

Kenneth G. Andres has been named the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Secretary-Rules Editor. Andres will officially replace long-time rules editor C. Cliff McCrath when his term expires in September of 2011.
Andres currently serves as the National Rules Interpreter for the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) and as an ex-officio member of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Rules Committee, both of which he has held since 1995. In addition, he has served as president of NISOA in 2003 and as the interim executive director in 2008-09.
The NY Metro ISOA chapter wishes Ken all the best in his new assignment with the NCAA.

The New York Metro Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NYMISOA) is made up of nearly 100 college soccer referees in New York City, Long Island and Westchester. Every November, its annual Awards Dinner at The Sterling in Bethpage, Long Island honors those individuals who have particularly distinguished themselves during the college soccer season.
