This year’s NISOA Preseason Guide includes this point of emphasis regarding professionalism:
There are many issues surrounding professionalism. The point of emphasis only focuses on one area. Do not over extend yourself and accept multiple assignments on any given day. Games can go overtime, traffic can develop and more. You cannot do justice to any game if you accept multiple assignments at the collegiate level or accept high school or other games in addition to the college game you are doing. As a NISOA member, you must give 100 percent to the game you are assigned. Working a game(s) before or after the college assignment or accepting multiple college games in one day will only result in doing a game that is not at your top performance level. Before accepting games, review the calendar and make a professional decision.
Accepting multiple assignments on a single day is strongly discouraged by the Executive Board. Ethics infractions caused by accepting multiple assignments will be severely dealt with by the Ethics Committee.
We distributed copies of the 2007 NISOA Preseason Guide to our members at the mandatory rules clinic meeting. If you did not receive one or just prefer to read it online, you can download or view it here (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).
Since the ECAC assigning process here in the NY Metro area does not generate email reminders, conflicts will happen, we recommend the assigned referee contact the home team’s athletic administration department by phone, confirm the game site and contact the other assigned officials with the latest information. Remember, voice messages or email must be confirmed by the recipient. Everyone is responsible to positively confirm all pre-game communications.
NISOA prepared the following official interpretation of the 2007 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer rules changes. Please be aware of the new rules and implement them for the upcoming season.

The Executive Board received this note regarding ejection reports and a summary of ejections from the 2006 season from Dr. Brian Crossman:
As chair of the NSCAA Ethics Committee I am supposed to receive all supplemental ejection reports. Going into the 2007 season I am asking your assistance to encourage the officials in your regions to submit all of their red card reports to me (and in a timely and complete manner). I believe I received about 65 percent of the actual red cards last year (over 1400). My goal is to raise that percentage each year until we get to at least 95 % of all red cards reported.
I would prefer to receive all reports by email. I will accept ‘snail’ mail but not faxes. My contact information is on the form.
Please make sure you comply with all ejection administrative reporting requirements.
The ECAC serves as a paying agent for subscribing schools to pay the assigned soccer officials. The schools using this service for men’s and women’s soccer in the metro New York City area for the 2007 season are:

Post University, City College of New York (CCNY), Dowling College, Farmingdale University, Hunter College, Manhattanville College, Molloy College, University of New Haven, New Paltz, NYU, Nyack College, Old Westbury, Southern Connecticut State University, St. Joseph’s College (Patchogue), St. Thomas Aquinas College, SUNY Purchase, SUNY Maritime College (Men only), Western Connecticut State University, York College.
This list is subject to change. Payments are scheduled for October 10, 2007 and November 16, 2007.
At this year’s NISOA Annual General Meeting, the NISOA Executive Committee approved a new NISOA chapter located in New Jersey. The newly formed New Jersey Metro ISOA chapter covers the northern part of New Jersey.
TheĀ New Jersey Metro ISOA chapter will conduct their rules interpretation meeting and NISOA fitness test at Drew University in Madison, NJ on August 18, 2007. The fitness test will be held at 8:30 AM with their rules interpretation meeting to follow.
NY Metro ISOA members who attend this (or any other non-NY Metro ISOA) rules interpretation meeting are required to attend three of the four scheduled business meetings to meet the NISOA requirement to attend 3 business meetings.
