The NISOA Executive Board is working on publishing a single rules test on the Testing tab of the NISOA Central Hub which will be dually used to qualify NISOA National Referees and for members to meet their good standing requirements. I’ve been working very closely with the Instructional and National Referee staff to get the test ready for members on the NISOA Central Hub. The NISOA Executive Board is meeting this week to finalize and approve this initiative.
90% with two attempts will be the criteria for the NISOA National Referee program. We intend to share individual testing results with the NCAA for their use in determining post season eligibility. I expect the test will be published this week with a deadline of August 2, 2015.
Chapter members will be required to take the test pass/fail. You will receive email instructions separately.
Updated July 14, 2015 – The test has been published at the link above. All NY Metro ISOA members are directed to take the test and retain the confirmation email from ArbiterSports.
The NCAA Soccer Central Hub posted the 10 most frequently missed questions from the 2014 NCAA Soccer Rules Test. You can go to the Central Hub or download the summary here. The summary is an excellent opportunity to brush up on the NCAA Soccer Rules and stay sharp for the conference and playoff seasons.
Once again, the NISOA Refresher Test will be administered on the Testing Tab at the NCAA Soccer Hub on ArbiterSports.com. The test is now available and must be taken online. The NCAA requires officials who wish to be considered for all post-season assignments to take the test and correctly answer 90 percent of the questions. NCAA allows the test to be taken twice before their imposed September 2, 2014 deadline.
Please be aware that 2014 is a rules change year for NCAA Soccer. This year’s rules test contains multiple questions about the new and changed rules. Since the NCAA Soccer Rules book has not been distributed as of today, we recommend waiting until you receive the new rules book via U.S. Mail (please be sure your mailing address is correct on your ArbiterSports profile) to take the test. In the meantime, you can use this summary of the 2014-2015 NCAA Soccer Rules changes to prepare for the test.
NY Metro ISOA members (including new members) must complete the refresher test (no pass/fail) as a condition of maintaining their “member in good standing” status. All active and probationary members must submit proof of completing the test by forwarding the email confirmation you receive from ArbiterSports.com after you submit the refresher test to [email protected]. Make sure you forward the confirmation email from the email address you have on record with our chapter.
If you are having problems accessing the test, please make sure to fill out your annual registration form on the Registration tab of the NCAA Soccer Hub. You must register every year with ArbiterSports. The NCAA registration fee ($100 for non-NISOA members) is paid by NISOA as part of your NISOA dues. In response to recent issues regarding the administration of the NISOA Chapter Fitness Test, the chapter executive board approved the following revisions to the chapter fitness policy:
NY Metro ISOA administers two NISOA fitness tests annually. The initial fitness test is usually administered in early June and the final fitness test is administered in July. NY Metro ISOA members in an active status are strongly encouraged to participate in one of the scheduled chapter fitness tests. New candidates and probationary members are required to participate in a scheduled NY Metro ISOA fitness test.
Within one week after the final NY Metro ISOA fitness test and in no case later than July 20, the NY Metro ISOA Executive Board will notify area assignors with a list of chapter members who have not taken a scheduled NY Metro ISOA fitness test or who have failed to achieve the minimum standard for the fitness test.
National Referees and National Referee Applicants must have their fitness test data certified as required by the NISOA National Referee Program Administrators.
Members who cannot attend a scheduled NY Metro ISOA fitness test must notify the NY Metro ISOA Executive Board, in writing, before the final NY Metro ISOA fitness test in July using this online form. All notifications must include information detailing when and where (identify the NISOA chapter administering the test) the member intends to take the NISOA fitness test. NY Metro ISOA members who take the NISOA fitness test with another chapter are responsible to obtain their test results from that chapter. A NISOA clinician, NISOA assessor or the chapter president, must certify all test results from other chapters.
Members who fail to achieve the minimum standard at a scheduled NY Metro ISOA fitness test may not retake the test with another NISOA chapter within six months. The NY Metro ISOA Executive Board will not accept fitness test data from other NISOA chapters for NY Metro ISOA members who failed to achieve the minimum standard at a scheduled NY Metro ISOA fitness test.
The full chapter fitness policy, as well as all other chapter policies, is published on the chapter’s policies and procedures web page.
