NISOA Green Shirt

The state of our chapter treasury is excellent. As such, the Executive Board decided to authorize the purchase of a single short sleeve green grid shirt for each member in good standing. Here are the conditions of the purchase:

  • You must indicate your shirt size on the nymisoa.com website at this link. Do not send us an email with your size. If your size is not logged on the nymisoa.com web site, no shirt for you.
  • You must be a member in good standing with the chapter.
  • You must be in a dues paying status for 2013.
  • Members who are inactive for the 2012 season may choose a one time chapter dues credit for 2013 if they register as an inactive member with the chapter for 2013. If you choose a dues credit, you still must pay NISOA national dues.
  • Active members are not eligible for a chapter dues credit.
  • Green striped socks are not a part of this initiative.

We intend to place the uniform order during the offseason and have the shirts available for pickup at the 2013 fitness tests and rules meeting.

NCAA Soccer Rules; Regular Season Overtime

Recent feedback from the national level indicates some officials are not administrating the overtime rule (Rule 7.1.1) properly for games tied after the regulation 90 minutes. The rule states that two sudden-victory overtime periods of 10 minutes each shall be played.

Please note the following aspects of this rule:

  • The length and number of the overtime periods shall not be altered.
  • Overtime MUST be played.
  • The game is over when a legal goal is scored.

In several instances, coaches have asked the referee crew to shorten or eliminate overtime periods and the referee crew allowed it. Coaches may not alter this rule even if both agree to it before the match.

Ejection Reports to Assignors

The NCAA provided additional information on artificial noisemakers, pep bands and ejection reporting yesterday. Please be aware that this guidance requires referees to forward ejection reports that are filed at the NCAA Soccer Central Hub to the match assignor. If you  filed an ejection report this year, please make sure you forward the confirmation email you received from the NCAA Soccer Central Hub to the assignor who gave you the match as soon as possible. If you did not retain the confirmation email, please follow the instructions on the NCAA directive referenced above to obtain the report and then forward it to your assignor.

NCAA Soccer Fighting Ejection Reporting

The NCAA Soccer Rules now require the referee to report all ejections, fighting referee and assault ejections through the NCAA Soccer Central Hub. The ejection protocol for fighting is available on the NISOA web site. Please be aware that in the case of a fighting or referee assault ejection, the referee must file two reports, the “Red Card Form” and the “Fighting and Referee Assault Form.”

2012 NISOA Refresher Test Will Be Available on July 9

Once again, the NISOA Refresher Test will be administered on the Testing Tab at the NCAA Soccer Hub on ArbiterSports.com. The test will be available after July 9, 2012 and must be taken online. The NCAA is requiring officials who wish to be considered for all post-season assignments to take the test and correctly answer 90 percent of the questions. As a reminder, do not forget to fill out your annual registration form on the Registration tab of the NCAA Soccer Hub, if you wish to be considered for post season assignments from the NCAA.

NY Metro ISOA members must complete the refresher test (no pass/fail) as a condition of maintaining their “member in good standing” status. All active and probationary members must submit proof of completing the test by August 26, 2012 by forwarding the email confirmation you receive from ArbiterSports.com after you submit the refresher test to [email protected]. Make sure you forward the confirmation email from the email address you have on record with our chapter.

Updated July 1, 2012: Test delayed from July 2, 2012 until July 9, 2012
