Chapter Fitness Test Administration

The following is an excerpt from several emails sent to the chapter membership regarding chapter fitness tests:

Last month, I sent an email to the membership about the new facility fees that New York Tech were imposing on our chapter to host the NISOA Fitness Test and the Annual Rules Meeting. Accordingly, the Executive Board began a search for nearby sites that could accommodate us for the fitness test while maintaining the current schedule and reducing expenses.

Historically, the chapter has administered two fitness test sessions. The first fitness test session was midweek in early June during the week and the second in mid-July on a Saturday. Unfortunately with the high demand for publicly accessible fields (schools and parks) during spring soccer season in June, we were unable to secure an acceptable site for the midweek June session.

Thanks to the hard work of Joe Danbusky, we were able to book Michael J. Tully Park at 1801 Evergreen Ave, New Hyde Park, NY 11040 for the following dates:

Session 1: Wednesday, July 6, 2016, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM;
Session 2: Saturday, July 9, 2016, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM;

North Hempstead is charging us various permit and facility fees for usage but the fees are less than New York Tech’s fees. The Executive Board will still be forced to look at other chapter expenses that can be reduced to deal with our increasing costs while holding the line on member dues. Several such areas include eliminating one fitness test session starting in 2017. Expense reduction will be a frequent topic at chapter meetings this year.

We understand the necessary rescheduling of our fitness tests may create conflicts with some of our members’ personal schedules. However, it is not the responsibility of the Executive Board to find out where other chapters are administering their fitness tests.

There is a map of all the NISOA chapters on nisoa.com with chapter contact information. If you can not attend one of the NY Metro NISOA fitness tests, please use that resource to contact other chapters and find out about their testing schedule.

Please remember that our chapter policy states, “Members, except for National Referees and National Referee Applicants, shall not be permitted to take the NISOA fitness test with other chapters in consecutive years.” Members must notify the chapter executive board via this online form if they will not be able to take a scheduled fitness test with the chapter. As a courtesy, as we find out about neighboring chapters’ testing schedules, we will post those dates in the comments section of this post. Metro New Jersey ISOA has confirmed they will administer their fitness test and rules clinic on August 6, 2016 at Drew University in Madison, NJ. Registration at 8:30am. Fitness Test at 9am with clinic to follow.
