Dr. Allen Feld

Allen FeldIt is with great sadness and regret that we learned of the passing of Allen "Doc" Feld on April 21, 2009 in Laguna Hils, California. Doc Feld was the long time secretary-treasurer of our chapter, chapter assignor and member of the NISOA Hall of Fame (inducted in 1993). We do not have any additional details regarding planned memorials but our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to Doc's family and friends, specifically Ms. Mary Randolph of Orange, California.

Al Feld (1920-2009) was my swim coach at US Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY 1949-53. He coached there after WW II to 1954 and moved over to Queens College & entered the world of soccer officiating. Al had Kings Point's first undefeated season sport in swimming 1951-52 and only one loss in 1952-53. He served as a US Marine officer in WW II and in the Korean War. He is interred at Riverside National Cemetery, California alongside his wife Stella.

I remember Al Feld well. He was an assistant Track & Field coach at Kings Point when I was there from 1951 thru 1955. He was a great mentor and personal friend; I'll never forget him.
