Candidate Recruiting

While the 2007 season is coming to a close, we are continuing the new candidate recruiting process. If you are an experienced soccer referee in the New York City metropolitan area and want to officiate intercollegiate soccer, you should visit our web site as soon as possible to begin the process of joining our chapter for the 2008 season.

2007 Sportsmanship Awards and Annual Awards Dinner

If you have not provided input for the 2007 NY Metro ISOA Sportsmanship Awards or RSVP’ed for the Annual Awards Dinner, you can still do so. You will need your ‘token’ from the email sent separately to you.

ECAC OPS Status

ECAC has informed us they will prepare checks for the initial Official Payment System (OPS) payment for the 2007 season on Monday, October 22, 2007. Payment will be for matches played before October 22, 2007. Please review the documentation accompanying the payment for discrepancies with your records. There are several schools in our area that did not fund ECAC so you will not be paid for the games they hosted in this payment cycle.

Take a few minutes to review the financial information on your ECAC assignment web page. Try to resolve financial issues with the assignor and ensure the ECAC web site is updated as soon as possible.

ECAC Officiating Payment Service Update

ECAC’s Official Payment Service was supposed to make the first payment to officials for the 2007 season on October 10, 2007. According to ECAC, quite a few of their subscribing institutions did not fund ECAC by October 10, 2007. Consequently, ECAC failed to meet their first scheduled payment deadline.

ECAC is currently reviewing their accounts and will provide a revised payment schedule and plan. We will post updates here as they become available.

Nick Apostolides

Nick Apostolides has stepped down from his role as Director on the chapter executive board. Nick has served the chapter for many years and we are all indebted to him for his service. Nick’s integrity and tireless work for the chapter is unsurpassed. I am grateful and honored to have worked with him over the past few years. We hope he will continue to participate with the chapter, especially with the recruitment of new officials from the Long Island Soccer Referees Association.

While nobody can replace Nick, Klaus Mueller has accepted an appointment as a Director on the executive board. Klaus brings a wealth of officiating and assessing experience to the board.

2008 Dues Reminder

Dues for the 2008 season must be sent to Joe Danbusky by November 1, 2007. The dues for renewing active members are $160. Please check the dues schedule for assessor dues as well as dues for other membership categories.

Members who are currently “inactive” must notify Joe Danbusky of their intentions for the 2008 season and pay the applicable dues by November 1, 2007. Please make your payment out to “NYMISOA.”

East Coast Conference Match Reports

At last night’s chapter business meeting, there was a discussion about reporting cautions for ECAC games. I discussed this with Steve Rossetti at ECAC this morning to get clarification. Steve said that the East Coast Conference asked ECAC to provide summary reports indicating all misconduct (yellow and red cards) for men’s and women’s games.

Referees who caution players in East Coast Conference games must notify Steve Rossetti via email or using this form (which includes a list of East Coast Conference institutions) of the misconduct.

Please note that this notification is ONLY for East Coast Conference schools.

For 2008, only ejections must be reported to the ECAC for the East Coast Conference.
