While the 2007 season is coming to a close, we are continuing the new candidate recruiting process. If you are an experienced soccer referee in the New York City metropolitan area and want to officiate intercollegiate soccer, you should visit our web site as soon as possible to begin the process of joining our chapter for the 2008 season.
If you have not provided input for the 2007 NY Metro ISOA Sportsmanship Awards or RSVP’ed for the Annual Awards Dinner, you can still do so. You will need your ‘token’ from the email sent separately to you.
ECAC has informed us they will prepare checks for the initial Official Payment System (OPS) payment for the 2007 season on Monday, October 22, 2007. Payment will be for matches played before October 22, 2007. Please review the documentation accompanying the payment for discrepancies with your records. There are several schools in our area that did not fund ECAC so you will not be paid for the games they hosted in this payment cycle.
Take a few minutes to review the financial information on your ECAC assignment web page. Try to resolve financial issues with the assignor and ensure the ECAC web site is updated as soon as possible.
ECAC’s Official Payment Service was supposed to make the first payment to officials for the 2007 season on October 10, 2007. According to ECAC, quite a few of their subscribing institutions did not fund ECAC by October 10, 2007. Consequently, ECAC failed to meet their first scheduled payment deadline.
ECAC is currently reviewing their accounts and will provide a revised payment schedule and plan. We will post updates here as they become available.
Nick Apostolides has stepped down from his role as Director on the chapter executive board. Nick has served the chapter for many years and we are all indebted to him for his service. Nick’s integrity and tireless work for the chapter is unsurpassed. I am grateful and honored to have worked with him over the past few years. We hope he will continue to participate with the chapter, especially with the recruitment of new officials from the Long Island Soccer Referees Association.
While nobody can replace Nick, Klaus Mueller has accepted an appointment as a Director on the executive board. Klaus brings a wealth of officiating and assessing experience to the board.

Members who are currently “inactive” must notify Joe Danbusky of their intentions for the 2008 season and pay the applicable dues by November 1, 2007. Please make your payment out to “NYMISOA.”
The NISOA Dress/Attire Policy specifies all match officials shall dress alike. The policy also stipulates the color of stripes on the officials’ socks shall match the primary color of the shirt except white striped socks shall be worn with the black grid shirt.
The policy also includes recommended attire for travel to the match site. A neat, professional appearance makes an excellent initial impression.
