MINUTES OF CHAPTER BUSINESS MEETING
AUGUST 23, 2008
C.W. Post University

The New York Metro chapter of NISOA held its annual mandatory rules interpretation clinic at the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University in Brookville, NY on Saturday, 23 August 2008. The meeting was attended by over one hundred officials from the chapter and surrounding chapters. The meeting commenced at 8:00 AM with coffee and juice service.

Clinics were presented on Positional Strategy (Jay Schwartz), Angle of View / Field Management (John Puglisi) and Assigning (Joe Danbusky). At the conclusion of the clinics, guests were dismissed and President John Puglisi began the chapter business meeting portion of the day's agenda.

John reminded members of the switch by NISOA to publication of the rule book every other year, beginning with the 2008 rule book received during the month of August, 2008. Anyone who did not receive a rule book from NISOA did not keep their address informaton current with the chapter. The rule book can be obtained for $10 from NISOA. See Joe Danbusky for details.

Alan Wharton reported on the status of ECAC. He reminded members to keep availability up-to-date. St. Joseph's College in Patchogue will not play any home games at it's campus due to the discovery of much broken glass embedded in the multi-purpose field used by several sports at the college. Consult the college website for field locations and directions. Officials were also encouraged to communicate with each other as well as the schools prior to the match, so that everyone is on the same page: officials know where/when the match is; schools know the officials have the correct information and will be at the match site.

Alan Wharton distributed copies of a proposal to all members present, which read:
Proposed Constitutional Ammendment(sic)

1. An official who is assigned to work a collegiate soccer game on the night of a scheduled meeting shall be excused from that meeting and be given credit for that meeting.

2. The annual dinner will be considered a business meeting.

These proposals will be discussed at the next scheduled chapter business meeting.

No other business of note was brought forth by any member.

Meeting adjourned at noon.

Next scheduled meeting: Wednesday, 10 September 2008.
