MINUTES OF CHAPTER BUSINESS MEETING
SEPTEMBER 5, 2007
NEW HYDE PARK KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Meeting called to order by President John Puglisi at 7:35 PM.

John called attention to the changes to the chapter constitution. The clarification of wording and categorization of members was done to align the chapter constitution with NISOA. John discussed the definitions of membership categories: Affiliate, Associate and the ramifications of the category changes. Members were advised of the changes and asked to vote on acceptance of the new verbiage. By a show of hands, thirty-eight (38) members voted for the changes. There were no abstentions or "nay" votes. All members not in attendance at the meeting will be notified via the chapter website, where they will be able to vote on-line. The voting opportunity window will close at midnight, 14 September 2007.

John presented a clinic on the elements of dissent in collegiate soccer. The material generated lively discussion and participation from members. It should be noted that future business meeting will also have a segment allocated to presentation/discussion of some relevant topic. These presentations will be given by the chapter clinicians.

Jerry Stoopack addressed new officials re assessment. Schedules to be provided to Jerry by officials; Jerry will schedule assessor. Assessment program designed to help new officials transition into collegiate soccer.

A discussion ensued regarding the Assignor and the assessment program. Assignors are not privy to assessment forms; they can only know that the official was assessed either favorably or otherwise. This information may or may not be used by the Assignor.

Lou Minutoli addressed member about availability. They should keep availability up-to-date so Alan Wharton does not have a negative conversation with them. It's a simple thing to do, yet practically no one keeps their availability current. The result is a confrontation, which is easily avoided by keeping on top of open/closed dates.

Meeting adjourned 8:35 PM.

Next meeting MONDAY, 17 September 2007.
