MINUTES OF CHAPTER BUSINESS MEETING

November 14, 2016

The Sterling, Bethpage, NY

The chapter held its annual Awards Dinner last night at the Sterling in Bethpage. The affair was well attended.

Collegiate Sportsmanship awards were given to the schools selected by vote of the chapter members:

4 yr schools - Men (Doc Feld Award): Webb Institute

4 yr schools - Women (Bob Blitz Award): Sarah Lawrence

2 yr Junior colleges : Suffolk Community College Women

Chapter awards were as follows:

New Official of the Year: Jason Silver

Assistant Referee of the Year: Joe Zawistowski

Dennis Botsaris Service Award: George Snizek

Official of the Year: Emmanuel Tadonkeng

John Puglisi asked the membership to join him in acknowledging the work of Joe Danbusky, chapter Secretary-Treasurer. Joe's term expires at the end of the year. With family scattered along the East coast his attention now turns to his six grandchildren. Next year Steve Wowk succeeds him as Secretary-Treasurer. Joe will remain with the chapter and work in the background (like a stealth bomber).

Flattered at the recognition he received, Joe Danbusky asked the membership to join him in toasting John Puglisi, who assumes the Presidency of NISOA on January 1st, 2017. He noted John's fair-mindedness and "by-the-book" demeanor and hoped these qualities aid him in attacking the problems ahead in the collegiate sports environment.

The remainder of the evening was spent with good friends, libations and many 'war stories"...

Best wishes to all in the upcoming Holday season!
