MINUTES OF CHAPTER BUSINESS MEETING
SEPTEMBER 17, 2007
NEW HYDE PARK KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Meeting called to order by President John Puglisi at 7:25 PM.

John reminded members of the dates of the final two business meetings upcoming.

Meeting Minutes:

John summarized last business meeting:

• Presentation of constitutional change to members in attendance and voting thereon,
• Jerry Stoopack on Assessment program,
• Clinic on "Dissent" given by John Puglisi,
• Lou Minutoli on officials' availability.
• Minutes of previous meeting approved and accepted.

New Business:

Results of voting on chapter constitutional changes were announced by John. Changes were approved by the membership by a vote of 68 yea, 7 nay. The newly worded constitution is posted online.

John informed members of increase in chapter dues for 2008. Dues will be $160.

The floor was opened for any items of concern by members:

• Pat Pinzon asked about doing collegiate matches alone. (3 officials, 2 officials or none).
• Joe Danbusky asked for clarification of the two exceptions to the dropped ball restart, which the NCAA changed this year. Both exceptions affect the goalkeeper.

Steve Lewin went over the refresher test, emphasizing the questions that were most answered incorrectly.

Joe Danbusky continued selling chapter golf shirts ($30) and badges ($5). He then informed members that the clinicians in the chapter will give brief presentations on pertinent topics at each business meeting.

Jay Schwartz was then introduced as the clinician for this meeting's topic: Gamesmanship. The clinic generated discussion on simulation of fouls (diving) and the fortitude of the official in issuing the caution. John referred members to an article written by Bob Evans concerning delaying tactics on free kick restarts. The article is on the web site (News page).
