MINUTES OF CHAPTER BUSINESS MEETING SEPTEMBER 13, 2006
NEW HYDE PARK KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HALL
Meeting called to order by President John Puglisi at 7:30 PM.
John welcomed members to the first chapter meeting of the season. He thanked CW Post for being a gracious host for us in providing facilities for the chapter to hold its annual interpretation meeting. Members were reminded of the requirements for good standing status. With that, a brief discussion was held about the fitness test requirement of all members to pass the test with an average score of 1 over four events (NISOA standard). The scores of all members were submitted to the assignors. Assignors' prerogative is to not assign matches to those who do not pass the test.
Joe Danbusky reported to the membership of the activities undertaken by the Board during the off-season resulting in the hosting of two clinics by the chapter: one for Local Assessors, the other for Local Clinicians. These two workshops produced eleven new Assessors and seven new Clinicians for the chapter. Those in attendance were asked to stand and be recognized by their peers.
John Puglisi addressed members regarding the Molloy incident of two years ago and brought the matter to final closure.
Alan Wharton , ECAC Assignor, addressed members regarding the problems in putting out the schedule as a result of the untimely death of Gus Constantine. Members were reminded to keep their availability up-to-date.
The floor was opened for discussion of any matters of concern. Questions from the floor indicated a sensitivity to the fitness test and its correlation to assignments. Members were reminded that they must now pass the test; not just appear for it. This produced a lively discussion of individual training methods to remain or get in shape and a self-assessment of individual physical capabilities to continue officiating. Remember: everyone gets older day by day…
Mr. William Kolb (Will) a transfer from the New Jersey chapter, was introduced to the members.
Meeting adjourned 8:30 PM.
Next meeting Tuesday, September 19, 2006.
