2012 NISOA National Referee Program

The next NISOA National Referee Program biennial cycle will start in 2012. NISOA members who meet the National Referee Program criteria and wish to become a National Referee Applicant should schedule the required assessments for the upcoming season as soon as possible. Prospective applicants should have all the required assessments and paperwork ready for when the application cycle begins in early 2012.

The NISOA web site has all the information you need to participate in the National Referee Program. Mark Butler (Amherst, NY) is our region's area coordinator for the National Referee Program.

2010 NISOA National Referee Certification and Recertification

Effective in 2010, all applicants must meet the requirements established for certification or recertification for the NISOA National Referee Program in each of the following criteria:

The NISOA Physical Fitness Test, with an overall grade of 3.5.
The NCAA/NISOA Soccer Rules Written Test.
NISOA Game Assessments by a certified National Assessor for years 2010/11.

You must attend one of the clinics referenced below, and successfully complete all of the requirements for a National Referee or Candidate:

Azusa Pacific University, Azusa, CA - June 4-6.
University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK - June 11-13.
Emory University, Atlanta, GA - June 18-20.
Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown, PA - July 9-11.

National Referees and National Referee Candidates must submit their completed 2008-2009 NISOA NRP Record Book to their Regional Area Coordinator for review and forwarding to Grier Cooper, National Referee Program Administrator. Applicants should complete the process as soon as possible as space is limited at the clinic locations. Only the first 125 respondents will be assured a place in the clinic location of their choice, and there will be a $30.00 late fee for applications postmarked after April 2, 2010.

2010 NISOA National Referee Program Clinic

The 2010 NISOA National Referee Program Clinic has been scheduled for July 9-11, 2010 at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Other clinic dates are June 4-6, 2010 at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California and June 18-20, 2010 at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.

Interested NISOA soccer officials should begin by downloading the appropriate documents, completing as directed, and forwarding them to their correct Regional Area Coordinator (Mark Butler is our Region II coordinator) by March 1, 2010.

Chapter Assessment Program

The Executive Board is pleased to announce Klaus Mueller has agreed to manage our chapter's assessment program. All new members must be assessed within the first two years of their membership so please provide Klaus with your assignments so he can arrange an assessment for you. These initial assessments are provided free of charge to our new members. All other members including those who may be interested in the National Referee program should also contact Klaus for assessments and the current assessment fee structure.

A Note on Professionalism

As I finish my second term as chapter president and a new college soccer season approaches, I get to deal with many issues affecting our members and their responsibilities to maintain good standing status. Typically, these issues concern preparing for and taking the fitness test, taking the refresher test and attending the rules interpretation and requisite number of business meetings. The other day I received a copy of an email from a friend who happens to be a National Referee which made me think of what it is to be professional. (more...)

Nabil Al-Saidi Accepted As A National Referee Candidate

Congratulations to Nabil Al-Saidi for being accepted into the NISOA National Referee program as a National Referee Candidate. The NISOA National Referee certification cycle runs for two years. Over the next two years, Nabil will have to attend the National Referee camp and pass six assessments as a prerequisite for achieving National Referee status.

We are very excited that Nabil, along with our only active National Referee, Jim Memos, will represent our chapter with impeccable integrity and superior performance on and off the field.

NISOA National Referee Program

Our Region 2 representative, Neil Edkins, passed this information on to members who may be interested in the NISOA National Referee program.

NISOA's National Referee Program is now open to accepting applications for entrance into its 2008 clinic program. Interested NISOA soccer officials should begin by downloading the appropriate documents, completing as directed, and forwarding them to their correct Regional Area Coordinator by March 1, 2008.

The NRP (its policies, NRP application and forms) has relocated to a new area in nisoa.com
